We are in the last month of the year and decade! In a few days the year 2020 will be here! As you reflect on the past year or decade, some don’t have very good memories. Some wish for a do-over and some have regrets. Did you know that God makes provision for us when wrong things happen? He’s a good and loving Father and He knew that we wouldn’t do everything perfectly. That’s why He sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins so we could go free. That’s how good He is. Now let’s look at the concept of time.
Time is defined as: The indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole. Time is also defined as a measurement in hours and minutes. There are 24 hours in a day and 8,760 hours in a year. We have 1,440 minutes in a day and 525,600 minutes in a year. The great physicist, Albert Einstein, stated that time is just a construct of the mind and an illusion. We know that one of the names for God is El Olam which means The Eternal, Everlasting God. He is outside of time and beyond time. When a believer passes away in this life, we sometimes say that they have gone into eternity because in heaven there is no concept of time. So a timeless God is the Author of time. He is in charge of time in the earth realm. He stated that He would give man 120 years to live on this earth (Genesis 6:3). God holds the future. He knows the end from the beginning. So what do we mean by redeeming the time? To redeem means to compensate for the faults or bad aspects of something. To compensate means to give someone something in recognition of loss, suffering, or injury incurred; recompense; to make up, repay, or pay back. That’s good news! Did you have a bad year? Did the enemy come in and steal something from you? God will pay you back! But you might say, “What if it was all my fault? What if I wasted my own time away?” Something that is wasted is used or expended carelessly, extravagantly, or to no purpose; squandered; misspent. So what do you do if you have wasted time? Repent! Ask God to forgive you and to redeem your time! He will! He’s good! God can even use your mistakes if you will allow Him to do it for you! You CAN live a life of no regrets. Ephesians 5:16 - Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Colossians 4:5 - Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Isaiah 58:12 - And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. Isaiah 52:9 - Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem. Let’s end 2019 strong! Let’s go into the new year and the new decade full of joy and believing that God can and will redeem the time. As you sow your year-end seed this month into the fertile ground of this ministry, call it your “redemption seed” and close out 2019 rejoicing! We believe and agree with you for your bountiful harvest, for your hundredfold return! Let’s look forward to the future! Let’s know that our time has been redeemed and it’s going to be grand!
